Las Vegas conventions are part of what makes Vegas one of the most popular destinations in the world. This is of course in part due to the tourist nature of the city which will help the Las Vegas conventions gain a number of visitors. It also can be attributed to the number of exciting venues in the city that are geared up to host even more exciting Las Vegas Conventions.

The amount of conventions at your feet range from the general business conventions to the more elaborate games fairs and high-tech products. Las Vegas is in fact the number one destination in North America for hosting tradeshows. In 2011 it hosted 45 of 200 of the largest conventions to be held in the United States. Let’s take a look at some of the venues that host these and some of the more famous conventions that take place in the area.

Star Trek–one of many Las Vegas Conventions

One of the most popular conventions is of course the Star Trek convention; in fact it is one of the largest Las Vegas conventions relating to the subject in the world and has been going strong for almost 10 years. This is pretty much the only convention where you could find all the Star Wars actors under one roof.

Las Vegas plays host to the largest convention center in the world. The Las Vegas Convention Center has over 3.2 million square feet of floor space which means it is able to host some of the largest Las Vegas conventions. Detailed plans for expansion of the convention center were put into place but in 2010 they were suspended. There is set to be progress on the planned expansion in the very near future.

Biggest Las Vegas Convention — CES

Perhaps the most famous show to be held here is the Consumer Electronics Show, otherwise known as CES. Games Developers and Electrical product sellers come from all over the world to showcase their wares at this trade show. It is well worth a visit to Las Vegas during this time if you are fascinated by this hobby. Las Vegas conventions don’t get any bigger than this high-tech extravaganza.

The Cashman Center

The Cashman Center is also another popular base for Las Vegas conventions. Like the previously mentioned building it is also owned by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Many of the events that are held here are fairly local events, although it did play host to the 2008 Presidential Debate for the Democrats.

Plenty of other high profile conventions have made Las Vegas their home. This includes The International Builders Show and the the World of Shoes and Accessories Show. You will surely find something to suit your interests whether it is at the previously mentioned buildings or at one of the other buildings that make up 10.5 million square feet of convention space that Las Vegas has at its disposal, this includes the popular Sands Expo and Convention Center.

Las Vegas makes a fantastic base for many conventions, not only do you have beautiful hotels surrounding the area to house the visitors but there are plenty of activities to partake in during the days that your show isn’t on. Before heading to Las Vegas I suggest taking a look at lists of Las Vegas conventions and seeing if there is anything that catches our eye, there almost certainly will be.
