The world’s largest association that is dedicated to serving human resource management is coming to Vegas at the end of June. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) boasts over 250,000 members hailing from 140 different countries. SHRM expands and advances the interests of the HR profession.

The Las Vegas Convention Center is the location for this annual conference. Courses will be offered that exceed everything they have done previously. With an uncertain economic future SHRM knows that having a plan in place for the HR profession can make a world of difference. This Las Vegas convention just could be a game changer for Human Resources.

SHRM Powerhouse Speakers for the Human Resource Conference

SHRM has gone all out with their featured speakers. They are having some of the most important entrepreneurs and celebrities for the sessions.

Sir Richard Branson—Opening Session

The opening session will have none other than the founder and president of Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson. The Virgin Group is one of the world’s most recognized and respected brands. Their expansion into a variety of areas is almost unbelievable. Air, rail, telecommunications, and hospitality are just a few.

Not only is Branson the founder and president but he is the author of several books. He has attempted to break several world records and has crossed the Atlantic Ocean in the fastest time ever. His boat, “Virgin Atlantic Challenger II” was the vessel that established this yet to be broken record time.

CEO of AARP, Barry Rand

One of the speakers for Monday’s (June 27th) general session is Barry Rand, CEO of AARP. If you don’t know by now, AARP is the world’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization that is dedicated to people over 50 years old.

Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post

Monday also brings Arianna Huffington to the SHRM conference. Some say Huffington, editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, changed the Internet by her widely read blog site, The Huffington Post. It is one of the most widely read websites on the Internet today.

Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.comHumn Resources Conference

Zappos.com CEO, Tony Hsieh, is the speaker for Tuesday. Hsieh was extremely instrumental in growing Zappos.com to over $1 billion in gross merchandise sales annually. Now, that’s impressive! Zappos.com was acquired by Amazon.com in a deal that was valued at $1.2 billion. He also published a #1 New York Times bestseller called Delivering Happiness, a book about his entrepreneurial ventures.

Las Vegas is proud to claim Tony Hsieh as a major mover and shaker for our downtown area. He has plans to regenerate our fabulous downtown area. This should prove to be a boom for Las Vegas business. Zappos.com headquarters are moving into the former City Hall. Let’s hear a big round of applause for our very own Vegas entrepreneur!

Michael J. Fox—Closing Session

Emmy-award winning actor Michael J. Fox will close things down on Wednesday, the 29th. As most of you probably know, Fox has Parkinson’s disease and went public with his condition in 1998. He will speak about his remarkable story and his struggle. He has remained positive in difficult times and should prove to be a superb closing speaker for SHRM.

Elizabeth Crane grew up not wearing a helmet, drinking from the hose and not wearing a seat belt. She managed to survive and now spends her time developing websites, drinking coffee, and eating chocolate.
