The Lake Mead Tunnel being built to help supply water to Las Vegas has killed one worker. The project started construction in 2009 but has been postponed for around two years. A second worker was involved in the accident. The condition of the second worker is not known at this time.
Apparently grout exploded late Monday afternoon. There were only two workers in the section of the tunnel at the time of the explosion. Neither of the workers have been identified.
Lake Mead supplies the majority of water to the Vegas Valley. The tunnel is being built to allay concerns about the lack of water in the Colorado River.
