Tymara

A Unique Name for a Unique Sound

TymaraTymara started singing at age 2 on the steps of her father’s church. She sang in the church choir throughout her childhood. She became their featured soloist and was well known around the city.

From high school through college, Tymara performed in many different musical theatre productions. She starred as Dorothy in ‘The Wiz’, Effie in “Dreamgirls” Dinner Theatre at Bowling Green State University, and other roles with the Toledo Repertoire Theater.

In 2008, Tymara took her musical career to another level when she won the Marvin Winans’ Survivor competition. She began singing background vocals professionally with Grammy-nominated artist J Moss. She also recorded with Vicki Winans, and appeared on stage with CeCe Winans, Marvin Sapp and Fred Hammond just to name a few.

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Tymara moved to Las Vegas in February of 2011. Already she has blazed an amazing trail of performances through the city. She appears regularly at Bootleggers Bistro for Kelly Clinton’s Open Mic Cabaret, a headliner at BB King’s Restaurant inside the Mirage Hotel on the Strip.

She also performs for Love and Laughter Live every Sunday evening, and is a regular at the Love Jones Spoken Word monthly event on the West side of Vegas. Tymara also recently appeared on The Dennis Bono Show at the Southpoint Hotel and Casino.

Tymara says of her ability- “My father instilled in me from an early age that there are a lot of people that can sing, but it takes real heart to get any further than the church-front steps. Even though he’s gone, those words still permeate my heart every time I feel like giving up. So quitting is definitely NOT an option!”
